There is No Truth to Reports of a Memorial Art Exhibition

On April 23, 2017, The Sun reported that Fadi Fawaz is planning “an art exhibition in memory of the late singer” George Michael. The planned memorial exhibition will feature Fadi’s art photography and “likely to feature unseen images of the singer.”

According to the source of The Sun,

Fadi has been very emotional in the months after George’s passing, but is now keen to do something positive and thinks an exhibition is something he would have approved of.

George was a huge art fan, and did a lot of work to promote artists’ work through his charity the Goss-Michael Foundation, as well as supporting Fadi with his projects.

Fadi has focused on art photography in recent years. His works can be seen on his website FadiFawaz.com and include portraits of everyday people, abstracts, and a number of self-portraits. As he explained his philosophy about his art:

The portraits I have taken of people I know are representative of how I perceive them. They do not present them as they actually are but what I think about them. These images are very personal, from my own mind. Each one tells a story. I sometimes use effects to develop abstract interpretations of an image – to emphasise how I feel about a particular moment or subject. These images represent the opposite of what we know, things that we can only imagine. Each one is open to multiple interpretations by the viewer, within the context of their personal experience.

None of Fadi’s publicly available artworks feature George Michael.

Fadi quickly took to Twitter to deny The Sun’s report about his planned art exhibition. In a tongue-in-cheek tweet, he denied any knowledge about this supposed art exhibition of his works and asked if he is invited:

@thesun just heard the news. Where & where is my exhibition I’m so excited. am I invited? Can’t wait pls fill me in.

His followers joined in the light-hearted banter, posting these tweets:

The claim that Fadi is planning an art exhibition in memory of the late George Michael is simply one in the long list of lies that the media has thrown at Fadi Fawaz.

Posting the picture of a roll of toilet paper along with one of a naked backside leads within less than a day to the anouncement of an art exhibition and the news is spread around the world. The tabloids are exposing themselves all the time without restraint. And thanks to IG this will be put under the magnifying glass in no time.
